Prison Break:episode1Michael Scotfield with a decent job, living in a decent district, one day did an unexpectedly unreasonable hold-up in a bank. He did no harm to anybody. All he wanted was to be sent to the same prison where his bro--Lincoln Scotfield-- stayed.Lincoln was sentenced to death within only one month. He was accused of murdering the younger brother, who was shot dead in his own car in the parking lot,of the vice president . Though there were the gun with Link's fingerprint on it, a trousers stained with the dead's blood in Link's bathroom, and even a made-up video recorded the murder scene , he was actually innocent. He was in a big intrigue. It turned out that it was the vice-president who steeled all this evil plot. But the real victim had no idea of their powerful enemy so far. Michael was definitely a genius. A structural engineer who possessed an unusual talent could easily see through a thing and mastered its inner construction at an instant glance. He seemed to fall in love with a responsible and clever and attractive doc working in the prison. She was the only daughter of the state-governor and defied her father's will to choose such a job here. I personaly hope they will get together and I can bet on it without a hesitantion. Although right now there were some misunderstandings between them, they would overcome them in the end. When Michael first stepped into this dark and dangerous place, he behaved coolly towards everybody in that way he set up a couple of enemies. But as he used his brain, he joined his ex-enemies as a team to help him and his brother flee away. Planning precisely and thoroughly, he carried out every little steps according to his original will. Despite his great efforts, there was always something that could never be expected or caculated. More people got involved. They longed to get out, yet all had their own selfish conservations about the fleeing-plan. As the leaving day approached, each of them became intense and suspicious. Nobody seemed worth trusting. 36 hours before his execution, at a stake moment, Link beat a guard to prevent their plot from being uncovered. And the precious price may be his trapping in jail and waiting til the inevitable death. However, Michael surely would think up of some resolutions, which I'm really certain about. BEFORE SUNSET“Memory is a wonderful thing if you don’t have to deal with the past.” Celine said in the film. That’s it. Sometimes we like to be in retrospect. And in that case, we tend to remember things agreeable and nice. I think this kind of tendency is every human’s nature. When I look back on my old days, I always call them my old happy days, seldom my bad old days. I can always find something cheerful and funny even in the tiniest or most ordinary trivialities. However, when I was actually under that circumstance virtually, I by no ways enjoyed any minute of it. What a contradiction. Though now I am appreciating my past time, I inwardly and secretly pray that don’t ever let me experience what I have already gone through. If so, then I thought it would be a disaster. Memory is wonderful and tender when you just stay with the memory and make no real or substantial connection between it and the reality. That’ll get things complicated. When so many things involved, the once pure and independent memory no longer remains what it was. Let past just be past. And the same with life ahead of us. We are living in this very moment, which comes from past and meanwhile predicts our future. Stick to this very moment, then no matter what happens, either past or future is in our hand. Jessie can be proud of him in this way. He came to Vienna just because he accidentally met Celine on the train and had a pleasant talk with her—a complete stranger to him. But he followed his feelings instead of his brain. He, in my point, is desperate to break regulations or do something like a rush of blood to the head. He is thrilled at unexpected experiences. He is more like an immature young kid who will do whatever comes first to his mind and ignore of any possible results. An talented, passionate but irresponsible kid. He got too much imaginations, good dreams yet no beliefs, that will hurt himself in such a world. MY TOPIC IN ENGLISH CONTESTUNITY & DIVERSITY
Have you ever heard about a film called "Dead Poets Society". It tells a story of speaking out your own voice. Today I want to share a scene with you that touches me deeply. During a class in a courtyard, Mr. Keating, the teacher, asked a column of boys to go around the yard in a queue. At first, all boys set their own paces, different from one another. However, when Mr.Keating started to clap his hands and stroke a rhythm, those boys unconsciously adjusted their paces to that rhythm.Later on, more boys standing aside joined Mr.Keating clapping. They clapped faster and faster, and as a result, the boys walking just couldn't help getting faster and faster. Finally, as you may expect, all boys lost their previous paces and became subjected to the rhythm imposed on them. You see, obviously, there is something to do with unity and diversity. I believe everyone is born unique and of special qualities. Diversity makes us distinguished from others. (We can be recognised because we have something that other people don't have.) But maintaining one's character in this colourful world is never an easy task (as one may think). As the boys in the film, they did want to keep their paces, but none of them hold on till the last moment when a strong force from the outside world interfered in. If we specify the force ,we may see that, in the real world, fortunes, reputations, other people's opnions and things alike are all such kind of forces (that would shake our minds and determinations). These beautiful and tempting bubbles often win us over from our original wills. Well, at this time, some of you may argue that "Isn't in the same pace a kind of unity?" But I totally can't agree with that. (I guesss we are more or less familiar with an old Chinese saying that goes like this:"One hundred schools of thoughts contend". Could you explain why there were so many branches of philosophies while the ultimate goal all pointed to the better development of the whole society? Why is that?) Unity, in my opnion, should be a deeply-rooted passion for the whole society rather than a superficial slogan. Nowadays we see lots of examples of unities based on diversity. Take European Union for instance. (It is a union of different cultures, traditions and lifestyles. )It's composed of some 30 countries, but it also has the same currency, one common market and its people even don't need passports when crossing boarders. EU is just like a mosaic-every part of it has a strong connection with other parts, yet all of them preserve their own characteristics. Robert Frost once said in his poem:"Two Roads diverged in a wood, and I, I tooke the one less traveled by." If all roads lead to a happy ending, then why not take your own special road and explore the fabulous view waiting ahead?
THAT'S MY SPEECH. THANK YOU FOR READING. |
